Surgeries: Chronic Pancreatitis: Familial Pancreatitis

This unusual form of pancreatitis is inherited and can begin at a very young age.

This unusual form of pancreatitis is seen with injury to the pancreas in association with development of stones within the ducts and obstruction of the main pancreatic duct. It can be treated with removal and drainage procedures and may in the future be best managed with islet autotransplantation.
