Surgeries: Laparoscopic: Solid Organ Resection
Laparoscopic surgery has also facilitated resection of solid organs such as the spleen, adrenal glands, liver and pancreas. Laparoscopy has eliminated the need for large incisions.
Laparoscopic surgery has revolutionized the way we approach many general surgical problems. Although laparoscopic techniques cannot be used for every procedure or every patient, they certainly have developed an increasing role. They have greatly enhanced a surgeon's ability to perform a procedure with minimal pain and rapid recovery. Laparoscopic surgery is one example of a general move towards "minimally invasive therapy," reducing the burdens of treatment. The ultimate goal would be to treat all conditions externally, without the need for any "invasive" procedures.
