FDA Advisory Committee Recommends TYSABRI for Crohn's Patients

It was announced yesterday that a joint FDA advisory committee recommends approval of TYSABRI® for the treatment of moderate to severe Crohn's disease. (Read article.)

When asked for a comment, Merriman Dowdle, MS, PA-C said, "The key here is that treatment with TYSABRI should be reserved for 'appropriate patients with moderate-to-severe Crohn's disease that have failed or are intolerant to available treatment therapies.'"

She went on to say, "Full disclosure of risks vs. benefits need to be weighed and discussed with each potential patient. Our past experience in clinical trials with TYSABRI showed good efficacy regarding the treatment and response of moderate-to-severe Crohn's patients."
