After an extensive national search, Pat Cawley, MD, Chief Medical Officer, has appointed Mark DeLegge, MD, as the new medical director for the Digestive Disease Center. During what was deemed a very difficult selection process, many talented candidates were considered for this position. It is believed that Dr. DeLegge will provide the strong, dedicated leadership needed to move the DDC into a new era of clinical excellence.

Dr. DeLegge, nationally recognized in the fields of nutrition and gastroenterology, is widely published and is active in numerous professional organizations including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Society for Nutrition Sciences. Dr. DeLegge is also very active in the development of new endoscopic techniques, especially in the field of the endoscopic management of obesity.

Dr. DeLegge, who will continue in his role as director for the Section of Nutrition and Medical Director of Nutrition Services, will officially replace Dr. Peter Cotton as the DDC Medical Director on June 1, 2007.

Dr. Cotton founded the Digestive Disease Center back in 1994 and has built the DDC to a place of national prominence. Dr. Cotton will be honored for his leadership this spring.
