About Us
Our Functions: Performance Improvement
Over the last several years the Medical University and associated clinics have completely reorganized their quality improvement efforts. The old emphasis on "quality assurance" (searching out the wayward) has been replaced by an institution wide search for improved quality – putting the patient in the center of the equation. This is very much consistent with the vision and mission of the DDC.
The DDC has a quality matrix which oversees and reports performance improvement activities to the hospital wide quality improvement committee and council. The matrix consists of ten streams of interest – six clinical sections and four service lines. Each team has projects within their jurisdiction, and involves colleagues from intersecting interests where necessary. The clinical sections consist of: liver disease, pancreatic & biliary disease, gastrointestinal cancer, functional & inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition, and esophagology & motility. The service lines are: endoscopy & clinic, inpatients, surgery, referrals & communications.
