About Us
Our Facilities: Educational
Teaching hospitals are incubators of the next great leap in medicine. Here, young doctors from all over the world come to work with faculty members that have been in the forefront of medical science. The work is demanding and the expectations are grand. Physicians who become fellows of the Digestive Disease Center join an elite group dedicated to excellence in patient care. They work tirelessly on research projects under the tutelage of faculty who may have written the seminal work on the subject.

DDC Video Conference RoomFor three years, fellows are constantly mentored and trained in all aspects of endoscopy. This is an exacting fellowship, but when they have completed their training, they can say without hesitation that they were trained by the best physicians in endoscopy. They can say that they worked hand-in-hand with the pioneers of endoscopic ultrasound and cholangeopancreatography. The Ashley River Tower facility will complement this training with state-of-the-art high-definition imaging equipment, and the latest in radiologic imaging. Still and moving images are used by faculty members to instruct fellows and trainees in the proper method of performing endoscopic procedures.
The DDC holds many weekly seminars, where gastroenterologists from many different countries meet to discuss the latest trends and techniques. And when physicians are unable to come here, we host online video conferences for them in faraway places like England, Japan and Korea. The emphasis is on learning the best endoscopy techniques for patient care. Our facilities allow faculty members to perform procedures and discuss the techniques in a specially designed conference room, or across the world.
Nurses are also trained at our facility. The job of an endoscopy nurse is quite different, and specialized training has proven to be beneficial to the smooth workings of our Endoscopy clinics.
