Christine has been working in the Digestive Disease Center at MUSC since 1996. She became interested in clinical research in 2004. Christine became a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) in 2007 through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). Christine has been helping the members of the Digestive Disease Research Center team with various clinical trials. She is also currently coordinating and involved in approximately 7 clinical studies. Christine attended Trident Technical College and the College of Charleston.
Janice is a full-time clinical coordinator for the in the Esophageal Function Laboratory (EFL) with dual employment as a research coordinator for numerous motility trials. Janice primarily coordinates trials involving esophageal manometry with impedance and ambulatory pH and impedance pH. Janice began employment in the DDC as a technician in 1998 and completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from MUSC in 2002. She is now a clinical and research coordinator of the EFL.
Tammy is a nurse practitioner who has several roles in the DDC - clinician, research investigator and coordinator. Tammy has experience as an NP and investigator for research in esophageal cancer screening. She regularly performs capsule readings for Capsule Endoscopy procedures conducted in the DDC. In addition, Tammy works as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) & coordinates all study activities for numerous complex protocols involving esophageal, pancreatic and gastric cancers. Tammy graduated from Clemson in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) followed by completion of a Master of Science in Nursing (1996) and Family Nurse Practitioner (1998) at MUSC. Prior to employment in the DDC (1999), Tammy's clinical background was in oncology. Tammy currently works closely with and reports directly to Rob Hawes (physician-researcher in the DDC).
Susan was born here in Charleston, South Carolina. After earning her bachelor's degree in education from the College of Charleston, she went on to earn her nursing degree from Trident Technical College. Susan has worked at the Digestive Disease Center at MUSC since 2003. She earned her certification in gastroenterology in 2006 .
Rebekah began her clinical research career in 2000 in the field of infertility research, and obtained her Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) certification in 2004. Rebekah began working at the Digestive Disease Center in September 2002 and currently conducts most of the Digestive Disease Center's corporate trials in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis). Rebekah will also be the lead coordinator for the multi-center NIDDK funded study. She received her undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston.
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Missouri State University and 11 years experience in the medical field, April originally explored novel pancreatic cancer gene therapy utilizing the CaSm oncogene in a basic science laboratory for two years under Dr. David Cole, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at MUSC. Looking to have more patient contact, in March 2007, April became a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. With three years experience as a Clinical Trials Coordinator, April is currently organizing approximately 10 study trials.
